The Plavicki Lab is a team of developmental biologists and environmental health scientists using the zebrafish model to study how genetic mutations and environmental contaminants affect brain and heart health. Broadly, we are interested in identifying novel functions for the SoxE genes in organogenesis and understanding how complex chemical environments shape our development and contribute to disease. We recognize that the burden of environmental exposures is not equally shared across demographics and are committed to supporting environmental justice and racism efforts.
